Virginia Eileen Crawford passed away October 15, 2009 at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford, Colorado at the age of 84. She was a piano teacher. Virginia Eileen Bruce was born September 21, 1925 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Thomas J. and Virginia E. (Bilderbeck) Bruce. On January 13, 1946 she married William J. Crawford. She was a lifelong resident of Palmer Lake, Colorado and also lived at Cheyenne Place in Colorado Springs for 7 years. She enjoyed gardening and was the church pianist for many years at several local churches. She is survived by her daughter, sister, grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren (names omitted to protect the privacy of the living). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, MSgt. William J. Crawford, recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor; her son, Daniel Bruce Crawford; her parents; two sisters and one brother. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance, America the Beautiful Chapel. Private family burial will take place at the Air Force Academy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Eileen's memory to Colorado Veterans Resource Coalition (Crawford House) 415 S. Weber Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
