An Australian Test cricketer. He played 50 Tests, 10 as captain and in these he was undefeated. He scored 6 centuries and took 87 wickets, so was a genuine all-rounder. From slim beginnings his body grew as he aged, and by the time he retired in 1921 he stood 1.91m and weighed 133kg, hence his nickname.
He also was a good Australian Rules player before he specialised on cricket, and played for South Melbourne in its losing Grand Final of 1899.
