Howdy was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local 135 for 35 years, of which 22 years was with Mason and Dixon Trucking. He was a member of Southwood Assembly Church, American Legion and Independent Order of Foresters. Howdy loved fishing and enjoyed being with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores M. (Weeda) Massey of Indianapolis, whom he married on November 1, 1982 in Greenfield, Indiana; daughters, Susan E. (Kevin L.) Litteral of Indianapolis, Vicky L. Mohn of Burbank, Ohio and Debbie Dockery of Indianapolis; son, Jerry L. Holman of Cumberland; brother, Richard B. (Doris) Massey of Greenwood; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Howdy was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald L. Massey.
Services 11:00 a.m. December 3, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home – 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. December 2, 2014. Entombment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics in honor of his nephew, Kive Marcus Dahlberg.
