Mrs. Essie Estelle Davis age 90 of Loving Rd. Morganton passed away peacefully of Wednesday Nov. 26, 2014 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was born on Feb. 7, 1924 in Union County, the daughter of the late Henry Garrett and the late Mary Harkins Garrett. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Essie loved needle work and loved music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Davis in 1974. She was a very loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Mrs. Davis was of the Baptist faith. Surviving Mrs. Davis are three daughters and one son in law, Marie Stidham of Morganton, Hazel and Russell Harwell of Lula, GA., Ruth Fettinger of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Harold and Sue Garrett of Blairsville, three sisters and brothers in law, Helen and Johnny Abercrombie of Suches, Shelby and G.W. Jenkins of Bunnell, FL., Edith and Thomas Bradford of Adairsville, GA., seven grandchildren, Scott and Donna Gibson, Shawn and Amanda Gibson, Todd Fettinger, Bret and Jennifer Clark, Jason and Andrea Fettinger, Thad Clark, Shannon and William Stephens, eleven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Sunday Nov. 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Essie’s favorite hymns will be presented for the service. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Scott Gibson, Shawn Gibson, Todd Fettinger, Bret Clark, Jason Fettinger, Thad Clark and William Stephens. Interment will follow in the Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Marion. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Union County Nursing Home Activities Fund in memory of Mrs. Davis. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9 pm
