Edna M. Walters, 77, of Bucyrus passed away November 25, 2014 in Heartland of Marion surrounded by her family. Edna was born Aug. 19th, 1937 in Jackson County, Tennessee to Garlin C. Hargis and Tommie V. (Thompson) Hargis who preceded her in death.

Edna moved to Ohio in 1952 from Jackson County, Tennessee with her family. She became an Adult early in life, taking on enormous responsibilities to help her parents and siblings. She was the oldest of 8 children. Edna went to work soon after arriving in Bucyrus to help feed, clothe, and nurture her brothers and sisters. She was very hard working, smart, and had no patience for laziness. Her parents were so proud of her.

Edna was married Dec. 31st, 1963 to Christian Walters who preceded her in death, they had 44 wonderful years together. They worked hard and became successful business proprietors. Edna’s Dad became ill and was battling cancer. They sold their motels and moved back to Bucyrus to help and comfort her dad and mother.

Later on in life, they traveled and spent their years devoted to each other, their family, and friends. They were members of St. Marks Methodist Church in Galion, Ohio helping with the church’s fund raising and having a deep faith in God.

Preceding her in death was her 1st husband, Barry “Chick” Teynor, her stillborn daughter, Sheila Marie, infant brother Garlin, Sister Joyce Judkins, and her mother and father.

She is survived by her Son Donald (Tina) Teynor of Jamestown, Ohio. 3 granddaughters, Carrie Whitaker, Bethany (Eric) Bowers, Brooke (Tyler) Rich and 4 great grandchildren, Cade and Colt Whitaker, Kailyn Bowers, and Ava Rich; 5 brothers and sisters, Roy (JoAnn) Hargis, Jerry “Pudge” (Patricia) Hargis, Jennith (Ken) Hargis, Jimmie (Julia) Hargis, and Carolyn (Jerry) Decker. Edna was very proud of her family and loved them deeply.

Edna was a dear friend to many and loved everyone. She was a wonderful cook and to all who visited, you never left her home hungry.

Special thanks to Home Care Matters Hospice and Edna’s many friends that gave her so much help and love the last years of her life.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1 to 3 pm in the funeral home. Funeral Services for Edna will be held on Monday at 10 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral home with Pastor Jerry Penrod officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 pm in Jamestown, Ohio at Silvercreek Cemetery with a committal service by Rev. Jeff Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to Home Care Matters Hospice through the funeral home.
