Services for A. R. (Tom) Lilly, 87, Caldwell, who died Sunday in a Caldwell rest home, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Flahiff Chapel, with the Rev. Gail Davis of the Treasure Valley Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at Canyon Hill.
He was born June 21, 1878, in Stanberry, Mo., and moved with his parents as a child to Kansas. The family moved to Cherry County, Neb., in 1888, and he homesteaded near Brownlee, Neb. in 1899. He later sold the farm and moved to Toledo, Ore., and then to Bishop, Calif., where he served on the police force for a time. He also was a forest ranger California.
He later was foreman of a road-grading crew in Yellowstone National Park, and then ranched near Hardin, Mont., until 1925, when he came to Caldwell and purchased a farm. He moved to a farm near Homedale in 1937, where he lived until retiring in 1947. He came here two-and-a-half years ago from Homedale.
He was a member of the Homedale First Christian Church and the Empire IOOF Lodge of Homedale.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Ebben, Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Laura Pitts, The Dalles, Ore., and Mrs. Zella Hauck, Caldwell. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
The family suggests no flowers or memorials.
