Byron J. Huseby, 90 of Adams, MN died Friday November 28, 2014 at the Adams Health Care Center.

Byron J. Huseby was born December 16th, 1923 at Adams, Minnesota, the son of Bennie and Amanda (Anderson) Huseby. He was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar Lutheran Church where he has been a lifelong member. Byron graduated from the Adams High School in the class of 1941. He was married to Helen Jean Sathre on March 7, 1943 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. He was a dairy farmer and owner of the Huseby Insurance Agency. Byron also operated a local milk delivery service.

Byron was a very active and community minded person. He served as the secretary of the Little Cedar Lutheran Church and the Little Cedar Cemetery Association for 35 years. He served as chairman of the Adams Town Board, president of the Mower County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Mower County Red Cross Board of Directors. He served as secretary of the Rural Fire Association, the Board of Directors of St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin as well as the Mower County Farmers Mutual Board of Directors and the Adams Lion’s Club. As a member of the Lion’s club he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. He was a charter member of the Cedar Valley Golf Course and a social member of the American Legion.

Byron was preceded in death by his wife Helen, brother, Aaron Huseby, sister, Edith Neus and son-in-law Dallas Keseley.

He is survived by his children, Gloria Keseley, Plainview, MN; Linda (Charles) Gilles, Adams, MN; Marcia (Dennis) Mullenbach, Brian (Deb) Huseby, Fairfax OK; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday December 1st, 2014 at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams with the Reverend Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday November 30th at the Adams Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Byron Junior Huseby was born on December 16, 1923, to Bennie and Amanda (Anderson) Huseby at their farmhouse in rural Adams, MN. He had one sister, Edith (Bernie) Neus, deceased, and one brother, Aaron (Eunice) Huseby, deceased. Byron was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams. He graduated from Adams High School in 1941. Following graduation, he worked for the Hormel Company in Austin, MN, for a short while. He then returned to the family farm to farm with his dad and brother, Aaron. Along with farming, they also delivered milk locally. After 50 years in business, Huseby Dairy ended its milk routes in 1980. Byron became an insurance agent in 1970. He worked briefly for State Farm Insurance before joining his dad with the Huseby Insurance Agency.

Byron married Helen J. Sathre on March 7, 1943, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. Byron and Helen have four children: Gloria Keseley of Plainview, MN; Linda (Charles) Gilles of Adams; Marcie (Dennis) Mullenbach of Adams, and Brian (Deb Fox) Huseby of Fairfax, OK. They have 10 grandchildren: Tim, Tara, Amy, Gwen, Ben, Brandon, Anthony, Jon, Amanda, and Matthew. They have 8 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Lucas, Colton, and Ashlynn Mandt; Cassie and Heather Mullenbach; and Marie and Alex Larson.

Byron has enjoyed serving on boards over the years. Boards he has served on are: Freeborn Mower Cooperative Services (secretary), Adams township (chairman), St. Mark's Lutheran Home (secretary), Mower County Farm Bureau (president), Little Cedar Church secretary for 26 years, and was one of the first delegates in the Rochester conference to attend the new ELCA convention, Milwaukee, WI. He currently serves as secretary of the Mower County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in Austin, MN, is assistant secretary of the Little Cedar Cemetery, a member of the Adams Lions Club, and the Adams Rural Fire Association.

Byron enjoys spending time with his family and friends and for many years, playing cards. A favorite bible passage is Psalm 23 and a favorite hymn is "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
