Coach Rex Rhodes, Jr., age 55, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014, at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville. He was member and past deacon of Christ Presbyterian Church in Sweetwater. Coach Rhodes had taught and coached in the Monroe County School System for 33 years. Preceded in death by his parents: Rex and Mary Rhodes, Sr., brother-in-law: W.E. Sloan.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law: Janette Sloan, of Sweetwater, Tonya and Ben Walden, of Port St. Lucie, FL., brother and sister-in-law: Larry and Phyllis Rhodes, of Sweetwater, devoted friend: Pam Taylor, of Sweetwater, aunt: Dorothy Wheeler, of Oliver Springs, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in the Sweetwater High School Gymnasium from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow with Dr. Frank Crawford, Rev. Wes Alford, and Rev. Derek McCosh officiating. Interment 10:00A.M. Wednesday in the Sweetwater Memorial Park. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, in charge of arrangements.
