Vernon Eugene Shelton Obituary Vernon Eugene Shelton, 94, Shelbyville and formerly of Tyler, Texas, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Masonic Home following an illness. A native of Miami, Ariz., he was the son of the late Clarence and Ethel Palmer Shelton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, his wife and the mother of his children, Alona Shelton; one son, Vernon Eugene "Gene" Shelton Jr. and two brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Cannedy of Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Ronald Gary Shelton of Shelbyville. At his request, cremation has been selected with no services. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb Funeral Home.
