Resided in Springfield, OH
---------------
Maxine Lorraine (Chatwood) Gaffin, age 95, of Springfield, devoted wife and mother, rejoined her dear husband, Marvin P. Gaffin as she peacefully passed away on November 24, 2014 at Forest Glen Health Campus. Maxine was born on a farm just east of West Liberty, Ohio, on July 23rd, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Nancy Claretta (Wagner) Chatwood, and was the youngest of 12 children.

Her siblings included sisters, Wilma Williams, Helen Stanley, Inez Robinson, Lucy Brubaker, Madeline Meinburg, and brothers, George, Anson, Albert, Edward, Millard, and Russell Chatwood.

From the age of 2 years until her marriage at age 21, she resided at the Hunt Farm, now the Simon Kenton Inn, on Route 68, just North of Springfield. She attended the West Side School, and graduated from New Moorefield High School class of 1937. In school, she was involved in running track, and was fondly called "Lightning" Chatwood. During her lifetime, she worked in retailing for the Sears-Roebuck Home store, and Phillip's Store in Springfield, as well as Goldsmith's. She was a long time member of Neal Chapter # 522, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devout member of the Emory Chapel Methodist Church for many years, and was currently a member of the Maiden Lane Church of God. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and was a superb cook. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. One of the highlights of her life was when she and Marvin spent their retiring years touring all of the United States in their motor home. She led an extraordinary life and had a beautiful heart.

She leaves wonderful memories to her family, Cheryl and James Ullom, of Springfield, OH; son-in-law, James T. Miller, of Gainesville, GA.; grandchildren Jamie Ullom (Thomas) Flynn, of Charleston, SC.; Christopher (Stephanie) Miller, of Mason, OH; and Carrie Miller (Todd) Forman, of Charlotte, NC; six great-grandchildren; Taylor Flynn, of Charleston, SC.; Madison Miller and Mackenzie Miller, of Mason, OH, and Alaina, Maxwell, and Charles "Finn" Forman, of Charlotte, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 54 years, Marvin, on October 26th, 1994, daughter, Vicki L. Miller on February 24, 2004, all of her 11 siblings, and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends at the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME in Springfield on Saturday, November 29, 2014, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.

Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in Maxine's name to Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Vicki Miller Fund, at P.O. Box 17046, Baltimore, MD, 21297-0251.
