Bennie Bruce Bowen Jr.
Bennie Bruce Bowen Jr., 83, of Gardendale, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 30, at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home with burial in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bill Davison will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Bowen was a member of the Grand Ole Gospel House Church in Fultondale, a retired diesel mechanic from Mack Trucks with over 40 years service, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bowen; and daughter, Rena´ Gibson.

He is survived by his children, Marsha Voigt and her husband, Judd, of Auburndale, Fla., Connie Alverize of Columbiana, Ed Dunnaway and his wife, Delana, of Montevallo, Teresa Sims of Columbiana, Sheila Sargent and her husband, Danny, of Dora, Ruth Bowen of Fultondale and Bruce Sargent and his wife, Bridget of Gardendale; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Harris of Pinetown, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
