Wesley Lamar Lee, 65, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, under the care of Hospice Satilla after a courageous battle with cancer. An avid outdoorsman, Wesley loved to hunt and fish. In his younger years, he bred and raised championship coon hunting dogs. Later, his focus was more on deer hunting. A great day for him was to have his kids and grandkids in the tree stand as dusk approached. Wesley began working at Hazelhurst Mills in 1967 and continued there until 2011, retiring after 44 years. His tenure at the mill was interrupted only by his service in the United States Army, during which he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and earned the Bronze Star for Valor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Wesley and Etta Lee, and his brothers, Etheridge and JB Lee. Survivors include his children, Felicia Lee Staat (Chris), Beverly Pierce (Bob), Donald Lee (Connie) and Brittany Lee; grandchildren, Megan Pierce, Lance Rayburn, Keenan Staat, Peyton Staggs, Taylor Lee, Julius Lee, Tori Staat, Wesley Staggs and Miranda Mims; four step-grandchildren, Zac Pierce, Bekah Self, Charlie Caviness and Diana Kaylor; great-grandson, Brycen Pierce (Papa Lee’s Squirrel); sisters, Vonice Nelson, Christine Laforest Lord, and Barba Ann Griffin; brother, Daniel Edward Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Crosby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Force officiating. Burial will follow on the Lee Family Farm. Pallbearers will be Lance Rayburn, Zac Pierce, Keenan Staat, Taylor Lee, Stephen Staat, and Richard Staggs. Carter Funeral Home and Crosby Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
