Evan E. Price, son of Lewis and Annie Crawford Price, was born in St. Elgin, Ontario. At the time of his enlistment into World War One, Price was a student in Toronto, living on Parkwood Avenue with his widowed mother. He enlisted in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1916 under the Canadian Mounted Rifles. At the time of his death Price was serving with the 2nd Depot Bn., Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment). In fighting near Amiens, France, during February 1918, he received the wounds that invalided him home and eventually resulted in his needing an operation, from which he did not survive. Lieutenant Price was awarded the Distinguished Service Order, Military Cross and Bar. He is also on the Honour Roll 1914-18 of Grace Church on-the-Hill, Toronto. A stained glass window celebrating his life can be found behind the altar.
