Shawnee resident Andy Brown Jr. died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, in Shawnee at the age of 79.

He was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Stratford to Andy and Fannie (Willis) Brown.

He was reared in Stratford. He attended Stratford Schools and completed his education in the U. S. Army. Following his military service, he relocated to Shawnee, where he had resided since. After his military duty, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base in civil service.

On Feb. 23, 1952, he married Frances Mae Mayes in Franklin County, Ark.

He loved the Lord; bluegrass music, garage sales and sports, especially fishing. His family was the focal point of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Wall; and one grandson, Robert Stewart.

Survivors include his wife Frances Brown of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronnie Brown of Shawnee, and Steve and Hallie Brown of Shawnee; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Sloan of Tecumseh; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Midge and Gerald Jackson of Ada, Thelma and Bob Birks of Stratford and Beatrice Unsell of Ada; one brother, Raymond Brown of Bisbee, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Drue Brown, Abbey Brown, Olivia Brown and Brady Brown.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Steve Brown and Wayne Sloan officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.
