Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Collins United Methodist Church for Billy Rigby Pickering, 69, of Collins who passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his residence.
Reverend Timothy Beard and Reverend Roger Puhr will officiate at the services with interment to follow at the Collins City Cemetery. Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Collins is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pickering, a Covington County native, was a businessman and entrepreneur. He owned and operated numerous businesses in the Collins area. He was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit V. and Loyette Brown Pickering; and one brother, Tom Pickering.
Survivors include his wife of forty seven years, Rachel Leonard Pickering of Collins; two sons, Steve Pickering and Mike Pickering, both of Collins; one daughter, Suzie Pickering Davis and her husband, Tommy of Collins; two brothers, Dan Pickering of Seminary, and Clifford Pickering of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Vivian Pickering Thames and Rhonda Pickering Wade, both of Collins; seven grandchildren, Matt Pickering, Ben Pickering, Skylar Pickering, Reid Pickering, Kaitlyn Davis, Erin Davis, and Lauren Davis; one great-grandchild, Conor Pickering and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Collins United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 220, Collins, Mississippi, 39428. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins.
