Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 5 at 1 p.m. (EDT) at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Valley with the Revs. Robert Jones Jr., Jackie Banks and J.D. Darden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Bell Dozier Howell of Lanett; his son, Mr. Charlie Ben Howell of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, Natima Brown of Lanett; two sisters, Mae R. Darman of Atlanta and Georgia R. Chambers of Lanett; five brothers, Mr. Henry Howell of Lanett, the Rev. Jerry Howell and D.D. Howell, both of Atlanta, Odis Howell of LaFayette and Raymond Howell; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends; his special nieces, nephews and cousins, Calvin and Lula McCants, Flora Bell Brown, Carolyn Marshall, Mary A. Darden and Mr. Robert Rearden II; and his god-son and god-daughter.
Born Aug. 3, 1923 in Columbus, Ga., Mr. Howell was retired from WestPoint Stevens after 35 years of service with the company. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from CharterBank due to illness.
