He went 11-4 with a 3.64 earned run average during his rookie season and followed with 6-6 and a 5.26 ERA in 1954. That year, on June 10, he blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates while spacing 11 hits. He was sent to the minor leagues after making one appearance in 1955. His lifetime totals were 17-10, a 4.45 ERA, 14 complete games in 40 starts and two shutouts.
