Major League Baseball Player. The left-hander broke in with the Chicago Cubs in 1954 but was traded along with pitcher Bob Kelly on June 12 to the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Bubba Church. He went 11-4 with a 3.64 earned run average during his rookie season and followed with 6-6 and a 5.26 ERA in 1954. That year, on June 10, he blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates while spacing 11 hits. He was sent to the minor leagues after making one appearance in 1955. His lifetime totals were 17-10, a 4.45 ERA, 14 complete games in 40 starts and two shutouts.
