GROVE, Okla. - David E. Newby, 90, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Integris Grove General Hospital.
David was born on February 22, 1915 in Joplin, Mo. to Joel and Hester (Isom) Newby, Sr. He worked as a chemist for Eagle-Picher until his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church in Baxter Springs, Kan. David had lived in Grove for four years coming from Baxter Springs.
Survivors include: one step-son, Wayne Weiss of Grove; one brother, Joel Newby of Houston, Texas; six step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Matsler Newby, his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Weiss Newby, one brother, William, and one step son, Jon David Weiss.
Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2005 at Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Mo. with Rev. Gregg Childress officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
