Army Sgt. David S. Collins, 24, of Jasper Ga.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died April 9th of injuries sustained that day when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed was Sgt. 1st Class Randall L. Lamberson. He married Cony High School graduate Mara on Sept. 16, 2002. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Elizabeth and James; father, Jack Collins; and mother, Marsha. He'd see protesters and he'd say, 'Doing what I do allows them to do what they're doing.' David was killed while on his second tour in Iraq when a roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle he was traveling in during combat operations in the Al Anbar Province.
