Obituary:
Gloria Jean Ball-Leen was born on May 26, 1925 in Walla Walla, Washington and passed away peacefully in the Newcastle home of her daughter Nancy Paddon on November 20, 2014 at the age of 89. She was the sixth and youngest child of Dora and Harvey Smith in a family of five sisters and one brother. Gloria's grandparents had settled in the Walla Walla area in 1881. She was preceded in death by her parents Dora and Harvey Smith; husbands Webb Ball and Carroll Leen; sisters Lilah, Helen, Lois, & Myrle; and brother Guy. She is survived by brother and sister in-laws Gene & Susan Thomas of Texas.
Gloria married Webb C. Ball in 1944 while he was stationed at the Vero Beach, Florida Marine Corps flight school. Webb and Gloria moved to Santa Ana when Webb was called back as a pilot in the Korean Conflict. After the Service they raised their two daughters in Santa Clara, California before later moving to Monterey. When Webb retired as President of Monterey Savings in 1985 they moved to Rocklin to be closer to family. After Webb passed away in 1994 Gloria enjoyed 11 wonderful years married to Carroll Leen before he passed away in 2010.
Gloria lived a faithful life true to her youthful vow to serve God. She loved everyone, especially her family including Diane Ailes (Chuck) of Roseville, Nancy Paddon (Jack) of Newcastle; grandchildren: Robin Schurr (Brett) of Wilton, Doug Ailes (Sandy) of Martinez, Rob Reeves of Seal Beach, Scott Paddon (Linda) of Newcastle, Lindsy Villacorta (Rod) of Auburn; and great grandchildren: Robby Reeves, Brady Schurr, Cole Schurr, Cloe Schurr, Ella Villacorta, and Cody Villacorta.
Gloria was selfless in giving her time, not just for her family, but for others. She volunteered at hospitals, for the blind, at blood banks, and she visited the sick and shut-ins. She was never happier than when she was serving and taking care of others. Gloria was the epitome of graciousness.
