Mollie D. Jenkins, mother of Linda Matthews and Mike and Mark Durham, passed away on Thursday morning, November 20, 2014, after a brief battle with Terminal Lung Cancer.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, May 20, 1935. In 1961, she and her family moved to California to join her two sisters (Norma Redmond and Maxine Fickling) and their families.

Mollie was employed by SMUD for 26 years, where she mentored many. She was a caring and devoted employee who was eventually promoted to the position of System Dispatcher. She was the first female and African American to hold this position. She retired in 1988 to care for her late husband, Charles Jenkins.

In 2013, she was Honored and Recognized for her accomplishments while employed at SMUD.

She leaves behind many who mourn her loss, including three children, her only sister, Maxine Fickling, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Wednesday November 26, 2014 2-5pm at Morgan Jones Chapel of Chimes, 4200 Broadway.

Services will be held at Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 3996 14th Ave., Sacramento, CA 95820 on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11:00 am.

Interment Camellia Memorial Lawn.
