Dana was born May 31, 1922 in Cogswell, North Dakota, the son of Earl A. and Zora (Bale) Bell. He was a graduate of Cogswell High School and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Bell was a Pharmacist and store manager for Walgreens in St. Louis and in Topeka, where he retired after 32 years with the company.
He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, American Legion and American Pharmaceutical Association.
Dana married Vergie Daugherty on February 15, 1949 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death in January of 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia O’Bryan, son-in-law Dean O’Bryan, of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jeff O’Bryan (Lincoln), Kyle O’Bryan (Newnan, GA) and Jennifer O’Bryan (Charleston, SC). Surviving siblings are Thomas Bell and Mary Ronning.
Dana was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing. He was also an avid reader and dearly loved animals. During the last 7 years in Lincoln he greatly delighted in the family’s many pug dogs!
A memorial service will be held Friday in Lincoln at First Evangelical Free Church and a private inurnment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
