Dora F. Allen, 100, of Humboldt, passed away November 23, 2014 at the Villa Cottages in Fort Dodge. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father James Tigges will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. A parish rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. and parish scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Dora is survived by her daughters, Judy Slama of Fort Dodge and Carol Ricklefs of Mesa, AZ; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Martin Montag of North Carolina and Robert Montag of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie Allen; children, Richard Allen, Mary Kay Hanson, Janet Paulson, and Karen Floden; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Dora Montag, one of sixteen children of Henry and Luna (Sloan) Montag, was born October 7, 1914 at West Bend, Iowa. She was raised and received her education at West Bend. She was united in marriage to Bennie Allen on April 6, 1937 at West Bend. The couple made their home at Rodman and Rolfe before moving to Humboldt. After raising her children, Dora went to work as a dietician for the Humboldt Care Centers, retiring in 1984. Mr. Allen passed away in 1982 and Dora continued to maintain her home in Humboldt until moving to Springvale Independent Living. In September of 2013, Dora became a resident of Villa Cottages in Fort Dodge. She passed away there on the evening of November 23 at the age of 100.
Dora was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. She enjoyed quilting and loved playing cards at the Senior Center. Above all she cherished the time she spent with her family.
