HITCHCOCK —Family and friends will celebrate the life of Jefferson Roosevelt Williams, Jr. (Hitchcock, Texas), fondly known as "Jeff" on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque with visitation beginning at 4:00 PM and services at 6:00 PM.


Jeff is survived by a loving family and many devoted childhood, neighborhood and community friends.

On May 28, 1928 in Galveston, Texas a son was born to Jefferson Roosevelt Williams Sr. and Bessie Moore Williams. They named their handsome son, Jefferson Roosevelt Williams, Jr.


"Jeff" as he was fondly known, was educated in the public schools of Galveston, Texas and was a graduate of Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and later the United States Air Force and served until his honorable discharge.


Jeff loved life and loved his family. Over the past 25 years, he diligently made a trip to Missouri every October where he supported his grandchildren during their school events and attended every high school graduation, which always brought smiles to their faces. His grandchildren were the light of his life.


Jeff returned to Galveston, Texas in 1985 to care for his brother. In October 1995, he united in marriage to Ms. Lillie Singleton. Jeff had a loving and caring spirit and tried to help those he could in need.


On August 14, 2012, Jeff passed from this earthly life in Texas City, Texas at the age of 84. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Roosevelt Williams, Sr. and Bessie Moore Williams; and brothers, Paul Williams and Charles Williams.


Left to cherish memories of his life, legacy and love are his wife, Lillie Williams of Hitchcock; his son, Jefferson Roosevelt Williams III and daughter-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" Diane Williams of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Jefferson Roosevelt Williams, IV of Kansas City, Missouri, Jared Ra'Shad Williams of Blue Springs, Missouri, Jamil Randolph Williams of Blue Springs, Missouri and Courtney Diane Williams of Blue Springs, Missouri; great-grandson, Rashawn Gregory Stoker of Blue Springs, Missouri; an uncle, Alfred Moore of Culver City, California; sisters-in-law, Linda Williams of California, and Dorothy McDonald of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Pastor Rizo Ingram, Jr. and wife, Irene Ingram of Fresno, California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends; and a very close group of his childhood and neighborhood friends who were like brothers and sisters.
