Ora Lee Brackett Carter, 87 of 406 W. Main Street, Lawndale, went home to be with her Lord, Monday November 24, 2014 at Hospice at Wendover.
Born October 25, 1927 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John Baxter Brackett and Sarah Brizilla Earl Brackett. She was a retired teacher assistant at Fallston School and was a member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Clayton Carter and two brothers, S.L. Brackett and Robert Brackett.
Survivors include one son, Scott Carter of Lawndale, one daughter, Soncrea Carter of Lawndale, one brother, Fred Brackett of Shelby, one sister, Janice Glass of Kings Mountain, sister-in-law, Evelyn Carter of Hickory, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend of the family, Carol Powell. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Carillon, Hospice Cleveland County, and the many people who cared for her.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 26, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Palm Tree United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Palm Tree United Methodist Church with Revs. Cindy Nanney and Wayne Burchwell officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
