The death of Gideon Barker was first reported that he had been accidentally run over by a chaise when the hub of the wheel struck him in the back and knocking him down. Upon further inquiry, it was supposed he was struck by the pole of a hack, when it was turning out to avoid a chaise which was passing, came in contact with another chaise on the opposite side of the road, which it struck and overturned.
