Mr. Rice was owner and president of Flomatic Corp. in Hoosick Falls and Geneva, Switzerland, since 1962, a maker of bronze valves. Mr. Rice was an amateur sports car racer and placed first in the 1939 World's Fair race. He also collected and restored antique cars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, model making, and gardening. His grandfather, Edwin Wilbur Rice Jr. was president of the General Electric Co. in Schenectady from 1913 to 1922 and his late father, Chester W. Rice, was a physicist at the Research Lab at the company. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Coley Butler Rice (now deceased); two daughters, three sisters, Mrs. Frederick S. Allen of Ross, Calif., Priscilla Rice Lovejoy of Old Greenwich, Conn., and Helen Rice Richards of Coral Gables, Fla.; and a brother, Chester Thompson Rice of Kentfield, Calif.
