Don was a resident of Cicero, New York. He was employed at General Electric in Syracuse as a tool & die maker. He married Deanna Bristol and they had one daughter, Deborah (Debbie).

Custom car shows began as a club project for Don. Back around 1955 club members went as a group to various custom car shows on the East Coast. He attained many ideas for the rundown 1930 Model A Ford Coupe that he had recently purchased. Before long, he was traveling the show trail with the "Irish A', appropriately named for the "A" and with a metallic green paint job. The "Irish A' rewarded Don with approximately 100 trophies and awards for his efforts.

Don was a Car Show Producer in upstate New York and President of National Autoramas, Inc. formed in 1961 and based in Cicero, New York. In over 30 years, he produced custom car shows in Syracuse, Rochester, Utica, Binghamton, Watkins Glen, Massena, Watertown, Plattsburg and Elmira, New York under the banner of "New York State Super Shows".

Don was a Founding Member of the International Auto Show Producers Association (IASPA) formed in 1967, producer-in-charge of forming the original Can-Am Division which later became the Northeastern Division of the International Championship Auto Show Circuit (ICAS). He was a member of the National Street Rod Association (NSRA)and a longtime member of the Central New York Street Rods Club. He was active in outdoor car events with his 1926 Ford T Sedan named "Producer's Pride".

Don produced his car shows with the meticulous perfection brought about by his former trade, and the fortunate success of his past events are evidence of this fact which still stands today in upstate New York.
