Marc S. "Rocco" Nelson, 47, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Penn State-Hershey Medical Center after a brave fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Marc was the son of Donna R. (Richardson) Sipe and Russell E. Sipe of York. He was also the son of Stephen R. Nelson of New Oxford. He is survived by his brother, James F. Nelson and his wife, Lisa, and two wonderful nieces, Brenna and Alaina McAdams, all of York; stepsisters, Wendy Waltermyer of Hanover, and Jonna Rutherford and her husband, Frankie of North Carolina; maternal grandmother, Mildred M. Richardson of York; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Woodrow F. Richardson; his paternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Nelson; and his stepmother, Carol (Kerns) Nelson. Marc worked for many years with Duttera Sound Services of New Oxford and freelanced for Showtime and Forty Two Event Productions. Also while working freelance, Marc did the sound work for campaign speeches for President Obama and Mayor deBlasio of New York. He was for a time a Technical Director at the Strand-Capitol Theater of York. A 1985 graduate of William Penn High School, he was on the Debate Team and Soccer Team, and played in the Marching Band and the Symphonic Orchestra. He was a member of the Distinguished National Honor Roll and attended Juniata College. Marc enjoyed being on stage doing plays, both in high school and at the York Little Theater. He enjoyed life and made friends while traveling on his "gigs". He loved to golf and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York. The service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Mount Rose Cemetery.
