Stanley Engberg, 46, well known and prominent Cormant dairy farmer, died last Thursday, Feb 12 [1959], at the University Hospital in Minneapolis. Death was due to leukemia complicated by pneumonia.

Mr. Engberg was taken ill Feb. 3, the day his newly born daughter returned from the hospital. Two days later he was taken to the Bemidji hospital apparently suffering with pneumonia. His illness aroused no more than usual concern because he had always appeared robust and had seldom been ill and it was confidently expected that he would return home in a few days. However, at the hospital examination determined he was also afflicted with leukemia. On Feb. 12 he was taken to University hospital where he died the same day.

Mr. Engberg was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Engberg and was born Jan. 17, 1913 at Murdock. The Engberg family moved to this vicinity in 1920 and he grew to manhood here, receiving his education in his home district.

On Sept. 10, 1943, he was married at the Presbyterian church in Blackduck to Sylvia Knutson. He and Mrs. Engberg together developed one of the outstanding dairy farms in this area, by many considered a model for operations of its kind. He was a member of the R.E.A. board of directors, served for a time as treasurer of his school district and was recently named an elder in the Presbyterian church here.

Surviving his death are Mrs. Engberg and three children, Gretchen, 11; Terry, 9; and Karen, three weeks old. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. J.A. Engberg of Blackduck, as well as three sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Art (Doris) Hill of Gilbert; Mrs. Harvey (Lois) Overly of Dilworth, Mrs. Ed (Marcella) Langer of Burbank, Calif.; Alvin of Blackduck and Wallace of Clarinda, Ia.
