Mrs. Charles Broughton, 88, of 315 Erie Ave., Sheboygan, former city resident and widow of the former editor and publisher of the Sheboygan Press, died Wednesday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a 2-day illness.
Born Emma Born on Sept. 7, 1878, in Brandon, she was the daughter of William and Mathilda Fratzke Born. She was married to Mr. Broughton June 23, 1898, in Fond du Lac. They resided in Fond du Lac County until 1908 when Mr. Broughton took over the editorship of the Sheboygan paper. Mrs. Broughton was a member of Fountain Park Evangelical United Brethren Church, Sheboygan, and 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Clara Jarvis, with whom she resided, and one brother, Otto Born, Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son in infancy, and two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call today at Ballhorn Funeral Chapel, Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel, Rev. Owen Miller officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
