Rosa Teresa Pellegrini was born in Mereto di Tomba, Italy on 22 April 1889 to Fabio Pellegrini and Carolina Monticoli. She was the 3rd out of 7 children. Rosa married Lodovico Leone Primus on 3 April 1912 and a year later he immigrated to the USA leaving her behind because she was 7 months pregnant and they did not have the money for both of them to travel. Rosa gave birth to her first son and worked to earn enough money to book passage to the USA. She arrived at Ellis Island on 10 June 1914 with her son in tow and made her way to her husband in New Jersey. From New Jersey the family moved to Connecticut, first to Killingworth, then Middletown, and finally settled down in Waterbury. Rosa and Lodovico had 10 children, all boys except one.
In 1947 Rosa and Lodovico divorced and she remarried in 1948. Her new spouse was Joseph Valerio. This was a short lived marriage as she passed away in 1950.
