Obituary:

"William R. Harmon was born Oct. 9th, 1823 in Greene County, Tenn. Died in Whitesburg, Apr. 21, 1897, aged 73 years, 6 months and 12 days.
He was married to Hannah Ross, Oct. 27, 1845. Of this union six children were born, five of whom survive him. Was subsequently married to Miss Katy Brown who also preceded him to the spirit world leaving a little son three years old.
He was converted when about thirty-three years old and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church. He went up this morning at four o'clock and joined the church triumphant in Heaven. Early in the war he removed from Greene County to Blount where he resided for more than twenty years and then moved to Whitesburg.
He was a member of the Fourth Tenn. Infantry from which he was honorably discharged.
And was discharged April 21, from the army of the Lord Jesus Christ, "Thou hast been faithful over a few things I will make thee ruler over many things." ---T.S. Walker.
