Mavis Ruth Pangle Adams

Mavis Ruth Adams passed away on November 13th at the age of 91. She was born in Yellville Arkansas to Jesse (Dick) Pangle and Bertha Narramore Pangle on August 9th, 1923. She graduated from Yellville Summit High School.

Mavis married her high school sweetheart Gene Adams in 1940. Mavis and Gene moved to Yakima Washington soon after graduation because there was no work to be found in Arkansas during the Great Depression. They prospered in Yakima, Gene finding work in sales then moving into the new field of television broadcasting. They bought a small apple orchard on Naches Heights and lived there in a house they built. Mavis and Gene moved to Eugene, OR in 1960, Gene having accepted the job of Sales Manager at KEZI television. Mavis worked a few part time jobs in Yakima but was mainly a stay at home mom until her children finished high school. After the kids were gone she went back to school, studying accounting at LCC. After going back to school Mavis worked for the City of Eugene in the Finance Department for fifteen years.

Mavis loved to play bridge and participated in several local bridge groups. She was an accomplished painter, winning several blue ribbons at the Lane County Fair for her china painting. She was a women of great faith, devoting a large part of her time to her church and it's charitable work. She loved and supported her family in every possible way. She was a kind and generous soul and she had many family members and friends who loved her.

Mavis is survived by her son Glen of Eugene, her granddaughter Merrick Kingman and her husband Corey of Yakima, her first cousin and dear friends Kenneth Hudson and his wife Barbara of Yakima. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her son Rick and her sisters Moleen Cline and Rosemary Briggs.
