Lacey “Bub” Melvin Thornton of Kentuck died November 21, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Thornton was born April 3, 1924 in Pittsylvania County a son of Clyde Albert Thornton and Hilda Barker Thornton.
Mr. Thornton was an Army Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader during World War II (1944-46) and served with the 5th Division in the European Theater.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thornton was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Ruby Colleen Hall Thornton and five siblings: George Albert Thornton, Olin Corbin Thornton, Willie Lemuel Thornton, Eugene Lee Thornton and Anna Mae Thornton.
