She was born Monday, February 25, 1929 at McGee Run, Valley Bend, WV a daughter of the late Edward Forest and Mabel Mae McGee George.
She was twice married. First during April of 1950 to Thomas Lee Channell, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Second to Iris Kilmer Zirkle, who preceded her in death during 1980.
Surviving are one daughter, Julia Lynn Corley and husband Montie of Mabie; one daughter in law, Chrissy Channell of Elkins; one step daughter, Vicky Smith and husband Lloyd of Norton; three brothers, Edward F. "Junior" George Jr. of Cassity, Everett F. George and wife Patricia of Mabie, Donald E. George and wife Kay of Buckhannon; three sisters, Margaret L. Johnson and husband David of Toledo, OH, Harriett "Tippy" Wiseman of Mabie, Wanda "Jakie" Watson and husband Tommy of Leavittsburg, OH; seven grandchildren, Dennis Phillips and wife Sandy, Lori Newcome and husband Brian, Susan Bohon and husband Charlie, Buffy Chenoweth and husband Johnathan, Lee Channell and wife Donna, Chelsea Channell and Shane Jones; ten great grandchildren, Brittanie and husband Nathan, Paige, Justin, Logan, Dakota, Katie, Brooke, Melody, Jacob and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one son, Thomas Lee Channell, Jr.; two brothers, Thomas Michael and Ronald R. George; one sister, Ruby George; and one grandson, Joseph Lee Phillips.
She attended the Shavers Run School at Valley Bend, had worked at Nella's Nursing Home for several years, and was a homemaker.
She was a noted cook and a loving mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday.
Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11 AM.
The Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow at the Rowan Memorial Cemetery at Mabie, WV.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of West Virginia, 1299 Pineview Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
