Mrs. Billie Fletcher, age 83 passed away in Humboldt Nursing Home on Thursday, December 30, 2010. She was born in Mississippi on September 24, 1927 and moved to Brownsville at an early age. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 2, 2011, in the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Connerley officiating. A visitation for the Fletcher family will be Saturday, January 1, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Fletcher was homemaker for many years and also worked for the Soil Conservation Service office. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville and also a former member of Union Grove UMC and Mt. Pleasant UMC. She was a prayer warrior for many and a former pastor once said "When the congregation needed prayer, they called the pastor and when the pastor needed prayer, he called Mrs. Billie."

Mrs. Fletcher is preceded in death by her husband: William Guilford "Sonny" Fletcher, a son: Bobby Fletcher, her parents: Ewing Locon Hill and Gertrude Mae McElwain Hill.

She is survived by two sons: Guilford Fletcher (Judy), Humboldt, TN, Jeff Fletcher (Elaine), Collierville, TN; a daughter: Elise Mitchell (Bill), Signal Mountain, TN; a sister: Peggy Escue, Jackson, TN, eight grandchildren: Russ and Amy Fletcher, Amy and Steve Noland, Will Mitchell, Caroline Mitchell, Collin Fletcher, Holly Lenzi, Stephanie Abrams and Angela Abrams; four great grandchildren: Anna Grace and Garner Fletcher, Samantha and Andrew Noland, several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Gideons International, P.O. Box 544, Brownsville, TN 38012 or the First Presbyterian Church, 109 West College St., Brownsville, TN 38012.
