Doris Nell Cox, 76, of Belton, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014, at her home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014, in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Jay Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport.

Doris was born in Moffat, Texas, to the late Robert Lee and Helen Gould (Schaffer) Cowen, Sr. She was President of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post #4008 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Jarrell. Doris was also a member of the D.A.V. She was a lifelong resident of the area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Johnson; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include sons, Joe W. Cox, of Hampton, VA, and James M. Cox, of Nolanville; daughter, Sherry L. Cox McDaniel, of Salado; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
