"ALBA GEER WAS PIONEER RESIDENT OF ROOTVILLE - Rootville, Jan 31 - Alba Geer, one of the oldest residents of this place, died Friday, Jan 26 of the grip and heart trouble. He was 86 years old in December. He was being cared for by his daughter, Mrs Josephine Ruggles, who resides on the old homestead. His wife passed away 18 years ago. Both are now resting in the Rootville cemetery, near the Advent church of which he was a member for many years. He had nine children, five of whom are now living, twenty-two grand-children and twenty-eight great grand-children. Rev J S Smock of Geneva, Pa, preached the funeral sermon; music was furnished by Charles Stafford and wife and Mr and Mrs Elmer Todd; Mrs Berneace Stafford, organist. They sang 'Safe in the Arms of Jesus' and 'My Father Knows it all.'"
