John J. Fuchs April 28, 1923 - Nov. 19, 2014 NOTRE DAME - John J. Fuchs, 91, of Holy Cross Village, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in his residence. John was born on April 28, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Harry W. Sr. and Marie C. (Lawler) Fuchs. On January 13, 1944, he married his beloved wife, Dolores M. Miskinis, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2014. He is survived by his children, John Michael (Kathy) Fuchs of New Durham, New Hampshire, Dr. Paul Daniel (Joyce) of Laurinburg, North Carolina, and Dr. David Vincent (Mindy) of Coldwater, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Linda (Dave) Lewis, Matthew (Rachel) Fuchs, Christopher (Leslie) Fuchs, Sarah (David) McLean, David Fuchs Jr., Derek Fuchs, Lesley (Mark) Kirzeder, Luke (Jessica) Fuchs, and Meghan (Timothy) Phillips; and fifteen great-grandchildren. John was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In WW II, John served as a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps piloting a C-47 aircraft in the European theater. As a civilian, John retired in 1983 as the former owner of Wayne Crouse Mechanical Contracting Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014, in St. Joseph Chapel, Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, Indiana, where friends may call for one hour prior to the Mass.
