Opal Helen Stone, 87, of Henderson, Kentucky, who was born to Fred and Clara Lee in Mortons Gap, Kentucky, on May 30, 1930, passed away on her birthday 87 years later at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital surrounded by family.

She cherished the role of homemaker all her life, raising six children, and babysat many more children who called her “Mamaw.” God was always first in her life, and she loved her church, Victory Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bethel Stone, who died in 2001; her youngest daughter, Mary (Derrick) Thompson, who died in 1996; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Faulkner and Ava Grace Dassell.

Mrs. Stone is survived by five children, Richard (Leesa) Stone, Cathy (Bruce) Bell, Linda (Jeff) Mayfield, Lisa (Tom) Epperson, and Pamela (Walt) Edwards. She was also “Mamaw” to 16 grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer) Faulkner, Zach (Cici) Cooper, Ryan (Ryan) Fowler, Mara (Kevin) Dassell, Lauren (Nick) Hooten, Morgan (Cody) Worley, Sydney Edwards, Thomas (Madison) Epperson, Erik Summers, Taylor Thompson, Macy Epperson, John Edwards, Nick Stone, Jake Stone, Ellie Epperson, and Zoe Edwards; and seven great-grandchildren, Mason Faulkner, Natalie Cooper, Lila Fowler, Caroline Hooten, Kylie Dassell, Nora Fowler, and Isaac Cooper.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Victory Christian Center, 7167 Airline Road, Henderson, Kentucky 42420. The Reverend Jack Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
