SUMMERFIELD – Roger C. Birkofer, 71, passed from this life Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph and Cecilia (Rowan) Birkofer. Roger was a retired chemical engineer assistant for Proctor & Gamble Corp. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Roger moved to Summerfield, FL from Indiana in 2005. He enjoyed playing golf and was active in veteran service activities.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Hazel (Coomes) Birkofer, daughter, Kristi Rutan (Jarrod) of Columbus, Indiana, son, Jeremy Birkofer (Alisha) of Cincinnati, Ohio, step-daughter, Diane Martin (Michael) of Knoxville, TN, Step-son, Stephen Chilewski (Holly) of Cincinnati, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 11 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
