Tillie Sheppard

Services for Tillie Sheppard, 83, of Pella, who died Nov. 5, 1990 at Pella Community Hospital, were held Nov. 8 at VanDyk-Duven Funeral Home.

Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Dr. Gary Smith officiated at the services. Music was provided by Eileen Smiley.

Pallbearers were Richard and John Aalbers, Jon Sheppard, John Richards, Curt Jones, Don DeHeer and Fred Rietveld.

Mrs. Sheppard was born Aug. 5, 1907 at Pella, the daughter of Joe and Johanna DcGraaf DeKoning.

She attended Pella Community Schools.

On July 23, 1926, she married William Lee Sheppard, Sr. at Moulton.

She was employed by the Overall Factory, retiring in 1970 after 45 years of service.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John; one great-granddaughter, three brothers, two in infancy and Jacob; two sisters, Nellie DeKoning and Johanna McCoy; and one son-in-law, Marinus Aalbers.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marinus (Geneva) Aalbers of Ottumwa and Mrs. Donald (Mary Lou) Buyert of Pella; one son, William of Pella; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-grand-granddaughter.

A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church.
