Benjamin Craft Died at his home in Jefferson township Greene County, Pa., Friday March 26,1886.

Benjamin Craft was a well Known and highly respected citizen. Mr. Craft was born near Merritstown,Redstone township,Fayette county, Pa, Dec. 26,1796. He was married Oct. 20, 1822, to Mrs. Mary Craft a widow of Merritstown, by Rev. Jason Meeks, of Bridgeport Pa and they have traveled life's journey together for more than 64 years. His wife survives him, but is quite feeble.

Mr. Craft served seven years as Colonel of the 103 Regiment, Pa Volunteers. In April 1845 he moved to Greene County, Pa where he made his permanent residence. He was the father of 15 children, six sons and nine daughters,of whom three sons and six daughters are still living.

In the fall of 1875,while the Rev. Liman Streeter was holding a "bush" meeting in the grove known as "Morgan Youngs" grove, Mr. Craft and his wife both united with the Disciple Church and have since been constant members.

Mr. Craft had strong intellectual powers and these he used to a great advantage in the study of the bible, he had learned to love its holy pages and to live out its teachings with all sincerity. His cheerful and interesting conversation, his encouraging words, his straight forward and decisive mind; these were the characteristics of his noble life and all pointed to something higher and better and grander beyond this dark vale of tears. He was straight forward,upright and a honest man in all his dealings.

In the summer of 1884 while walking about the yard,he slipped and fell,and for several weeks he was confined to his bed. In September of the same year he was taken with some affection of the urinary organs which finally terminated in his death. His remains were interment in the Hewitt Church Cem,on Sunday March 28 at 11 o'clock A.M.. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Morgan
