SIMON P. SHAFFER OF BOSWELL DIES
Was Retired Rural Mail Carrier; Funeral to Be Held on Friday
BOSWELL, Dec. 24 - Simon P. Shaffer, aged 83, a well-known retired rural mail carrier, died this morning at 7:45 o'clock at his home here. He had been ill fro nine weeks, suffering from a complication of diseases. Mr. Shaffer was a son of Aaron and Margaret (Bender) Shaffer, both deceased, and was born in Friedens on March 4, 1852. Mr. Shaffer and Elizabeth Fryburg were married 48 years ago in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are these children: Beulah, wife of H. E. Stanton of Franklin, Pa.; Erma, wife of James Thomas; Muriel, wife of Cletus Thomas, and Gladys, wife of Howard O'Baker, all of Boswell, and *Mrs. Ruth Vincent* of Jerome. He was a brother of Samuel Shaffer of Springfield, O., and Mrs. Ellen Rininger of Kantner.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Jenners Crossroads United Brethren Church by the Rev. Bennett of Berlin. Interment will be in the church cemetery, under the direction of L. G. Hoffman, Boswell mortician.

Death Certificate is actually incorrect. It lists a death of December 26th but should read the 24th. Also, obituary states birth year of 1852 but headstone has 1857.
