The Rev. Lewis N. Claxton, 64, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Anniston, Alabama for 37 years, died of a heart attack September 10th at his home at 1336 Pine Avenue, Anniston, Ala. He also was active in fraternal circles being a member of the Masons and Shrine.

The Reverand Claxton was honored several times by civil clubs for outstanding service to the city, including his efforts in behalf of the Community Chest Appeal which he once headed.
