John B. Baum YORK-John B. Baum, 79, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003 at his home. He was the husband of Dorothy I. (Kochenour) Baum with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 15. Funeral service will be held Monday June 23 at 2 p.m. at Workinger-Semmel F.H. and Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St. Viewing will be 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. D. Guy Carrigan, Jr. Mr. Baum was born Oct. 15, 1923 in Hershey, Pa. He was the son of the late Harry R. and Violet G. (March) Baum. Mr. Baum retired from New York Wire Cloth Co., where he was a wire drawer and foreman for 42 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Italy in the 781st Bomb Squadron and the 465th Bomb Group. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and former Scout Leader at the church; White Rose V.F.W. Post 556; AARP; 781st Bomb Squadron Association; Hawk Gunning Club; and East York Optimist Club. Mr. Baum also is survived by one daughter, Martha M. Magor of York; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly R. Diehl; and a son, Douglas B. Baum.
