Second son of Mr. John Barrie, North Dumfries, passed away after a long and serious illness on Thursday last, a victim to that fell destroyer, consumption. The funeral took place from the family residence, on the Blenheim road, to Mount View cemetery, Friday afternoon and was largely attended, the whole countryside turning out to pay their last respects to the departed. Mr. Barrie was an athletically and muscularly built young fellow, of towering height and commanding presence. Popular he was with a wide circle of acquaintances, who esteemed him for his many manly qualities and his death will cause universal regret. His parents and relatives will have the sympathy of a large number in the community, in his untimely death.
