Katherine M. Cooper June 16, 1919 - Nov. 14, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Katherine "Kay" Cooper (Mc-Knight) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 14, at the age of 95. Kay, a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, a cherished Nana and a dear friend to many will be missed. Kay was born June 16, 1919, in Waterbury, Connecticut, as the daughter of James and Katherine (Healey) McKnight. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Deborah (Cooper) Arlotta. Kay is survived by her grandchildren, Mindy Arlotta of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andy (Brook) Arlotta of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Jon (Alex) Arlotta of Denver, Colorado, as well as by 2 great-grandchildren. Kay received her Bachelor of Arts from Woman's College in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1940. She served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant in the Waves division during World War II and was stationed in Cape May, New Jersey, and Cleveland, Ohio. Kay enjoyed a distinguished career in her roles as Women's Division Director of the First National Bank and Trust Company and Director of Programming and previous Director of Personnel at St. Mary's College. She also served as the business manager for Broadway Theater League and was past president of the Junior League of South Bend, as well as her active role in many local boards and charities. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 22, at Sanctuary at St. Paul's Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m., with Funeral Service being held at 11 a.m. with Military Rites being conducted by VFW 360 & American Legion 161 Burial Squad.
